The History
The Gim-Crack was conceived after seeing a similar design by John Ferrentino in the June/July 1987 issue of the Magical Arts Journal. While I did like the front loading feature, I felt it needed an overhaul. I extended the legs for stability, applied rubber tubing and an adjustable lanyard, concocted from parts around the hardware store where I work. I was completely happy with its functionality and made one for a friend, who showed it to Bob Sheets, who called it a Gim-Crack - the legend was born. (gimcrack n. A cheap and showy object of little or no use)
